Our Story

My journey to opening Sugar House Wafflerie started with what was meant to be a simple vacation — a trip to escape the hustle and bustle of my daily life in Southern California.

While wandering the streets of Belgium, a sweet and irresistible aroma caught my attention.  I followed the scent to a food truck where I ordered a freshly made Liège Belgian waffle. I had never had a Liège waffle until that moment, and it was love at first bite. This dense, sweet waffle was caramelized and slightly crisp on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside. I immediately became obsessed and continued to get my fill of these delicious treats for the rest of my time in Belgium.

As my vacation came to an end, I was already craving a warm street waffle. It was then that I realized that these waffles weren’t just a food; they were an experience, a memory in every bite. I began to dream of bringing that same magic back home with me.

When I returned home, the idea lingered. I spent weeks perfecting a recipe that was my own, but that still kept the traditional Belgian flavors. It wasn’t long before I decided to take a leap of faith and launch Sugar House Wafflerie. And just like that, a vacation turned into a life-changing passion—a passion that shares a little piece of Belgium in every waffle.
